Early Dominance by Orlando City
Lionel Messi scored twice as Inter Miami CF came from behind to defeat Orlando City SC 4–2 in a dramatic Major League Soccer Florida derby on Sunday.
Orlando City started strongly and controlled the early stages of the match. Croatian winger Marco Pašalić opened the scoring in the 18th minute. He finished a low cross from Iván Angulo after Miami lost possession in midfield.
The home side doubled their lead six minutes later. Right-back Griffin Dorsey made a powerful run down the flank. He then passed to Argentine forward Martín Ojeda, who calmly placed the ball into the net to make it 2–0.
Miami Begins the Fightback
Inter Miami attempted to respond before halftime. Messi and fellow Argentine international Rodrigo De Paul both created chances.
De Paul tested goalkeeper Maxime Crépeau with a strong long-range shot in the 28th minute. The Canadian goalkeeper pushed the ball away. Shortly after, Crépeau produced another save to deny Messi inside the penalty area.
Second-Half Turnaround
The match changed soon after the second half began. Substitute Mateo Silvetti scored in the 49th minute with a powerful strike from 25 yards. The goal gave Miami renewed momentum.
Messi equalized eight minutes later. He received the ball near the edge of the box and curled a left-footed shot past Crépeau.
Messi Seals the Victory
Miami completed the comeback late in the match. In the 85th minute, Messi delivered a clever pass to Telasco Segovia. Segovia finished neatly into the corner to give Miami a 3–2 lead.
Messi sealed the win in the 90th minute. His low free kick from distance slipped beneath Crépeau and into the net. The goal confirmed a remarkable 4–2 victory for Inter Miami.
